About

Dr. H.A. (Aernout) Zuiderbaan is an orthopedic surgeon who has specialized extensively in various knee conditions and treatments. He obtained his medical degree from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2012. The following year, he worked at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, the world’s largest orthopedic hospital. During his time there, he conducted scientific research on robot-assisted knee prosthetics and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures, alongside the internationally renowned knee surgeon Dr. A.D. Pearle.

They continue to collaborate on scientific research, which has resulted in Dr. Zuiderbaan’s doctoral dissertation on robot-assisted knee prosthetics. From 2014 to 2019, he underwent training as an orthopedic surgeon at Spaarne Gasthuis, Noordwest Ziekenhuisgroep, and Utrecht University Medical Center.

To further specialize in knee surgery, he completed two fellowships in this specific area of orthopedics. The first fellowship focused on complex knee prosthetics under the guidance of Dr. L.C.M. Keijser at Noordwest Ziekenhuisgroep in Alkmaar. The second fellowship focused on the treatment of knee injuries in elite athletes, led by the internationally renowned sports surgeon Dr. Andy Williams at Fortius Clinic in London, where players from Chelsea Football Club and other English Premier League clubs are treated.

Since 2020, Dr. Zuiderbaan has been practicing as an orthopedic surgeon at Medische Kliniek Velsen. Within the team of four orthopedic surgeons, he focuses entirely on knee surgery. He treats both athletes with knee injuries and patients with knee osteoarthritis.
