About
Dr. H.A. (Aernout) Zuiderbaan is an orthopedic surgeon who has fully specialized in various knee conditions and treatments. He graduated as a medical doctor in 2012 from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The following year, he worked at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, the world’s largest orthopedic hospital. Together with his American colleagues, he continues to conduct extensive scientific research on different knee joint conditions and treatments. This research led, among other things, to his PhD thesis on robot-assisted knee prosthetics.
From 2014 to 2019, he trained as an orthopedic surgeon at Spaarne Gasthuis, the Noordwest Ziekenhuisgroep, and the University Medical Center Utrecht.
To fully focus on knee surgery, he completed two fellowships in this subfield of orthopedics. The first fellowship concentrated on complex knee prosthetics at Noordwest Ziekenhuisgroep in Alkmaar. The second fellowship focused on treating knee injuries for elite athletes, which he completed at the Fortius Clinic in London, where also players from various English Premier League clubs are treated.
Since 2020, Dr. Zuiderbaan has been working as an orthopedic surgeon at Medische Kliniek Velsen. Within a team of five orthopedic surgeons, he specializes exclusively in knee surgery. Dr. Zuiderbaan performs between 600 and 700 knee surgeries annually. He treats both (professional) athletes with knee injuries and patients with knee osteoarthritis.
